in the hospital... he hasn't seen a passy since

Hey everybody!
Ethan is now 2 weeks old! It's hard to believe it's already been 2 weeks since I pushed out this big boy... but yet it seems like forever with the sleepless nights and never leaving the house. I rarely know what day it is. Well, Ethan broke us in gently, giving us lots of sleep in the first week. We were very appreciative! But, oh, how things change! He's now getting fussy at night until momma rocks him back to sleep. Excuse me for trying to stay in bed...haha. I can fool him into sleeping an extra hour or 2 and then the "bloody murder" screams begin. "Feed me NOW!" But we're really only having to get up for one unbearable shift (usually between 2-4am). I can handle the midnight shift alone and let daddy sleep, but not the early morning. Dadddy pulls diaper duty (doody) and then momma feeds!

Here's a quick pic of the cutie sleeping in my lap today... he loves to have his arms out!

A Good Laugh

Quick story.... yesterday we went to Chili's for lunch. As you can imagine, people really stare at a 9 month pregnant lady... some in shock, some smile, some touch your belly, and some tell you ALL about their pregnancy and kids.... well, we got a great response as we walked out the doors of Chili's. I was about one step past a lady coming into the restaurant when we heard "OH... MY... GOSH!" Turns out I was the "oh my gosh" she was referring to. I thought about turning around and making some smart remark while swinging at her. But, that was just a fun thought to freak her out. We just kept walking and laughing. I guess I'm getting to be quite a shocking site?!?

No Baby Yet?!?

Well, Ethan's about one week late according to the doctor. Seems I have a really cozy belly, so he's not real interested in leaving. I hope this isn't a clue of what's to come after high school... haha. (will he ever move out?!?)

As some of you may know, doctors don't really like you going much past one week of your due date. In fact, they get a little freakish. However, I'm still feeling pretty good, so I don't think it's that big of a deal. BUT, I had a NST (non stress test) today to check on Ethan and everything turned out "beautiful" as the nurse put it. His heart rate and my little contractions... it all looked good. We got to the office about 9am and waited to do the NST. After the NST, we stayed in the NST room for a while and waited for an exam room. Then we waited some more.... then they moved us into an exam room. Then we waited. Then we waited some more... with my bare butt covered by a "gown" (AKA-paper napkin) sitting in a cold room... and waited. THEN, we finally saw the nurse (they were a little behind schedule). I was still about 85% effaced and now 3cm dilated. The nurse was excited and tried to talk me into coming into the hospital the next day to be induced... or to have her "accidentally" break my waters ;-) She was so funny. You would have thought she was going to be the grandma of this little boy. She was just as anxious as the rest of the family. After about 3 hours of being in the office they asked us to come back after lunch to have an ultrasound so they could check my amniotic fluid levels (that's their other concern when you go past your due date). Turns out the doctors really want a minimum level of 5. They really prefer a level of about 8. Well, Ethan was surrounded by a level of about 14! Needless to say, he's pretty comfortable in there and is safe to stay quite a while.

As a bonus the ultrasound tech showed us all kinds of 4d live motion shots of our little boy. We saw his hair... a pretty good head of hair it seemed. We got to watch him move his little feet. AND, we got to see his face with his pudgy little nose and he was moving his mouth. He must have been singing in there ;-) He showed us his hands and fingers. Almost a "talk to the hand" kind of moment. He showed us his pudgy little fingers... they look like my pudgy fingers! But, watching his little mouth open and close was probably the coolest thing. She printed his face for us... so a fun little prize for our day of patience.

Love you all and we'll keep you posted!
